Christmas

by Mrs. S. A. Collins

Oh! what a happy Christmas time

It would be for you and I,

If we knew that all the children

Underneath the bright blue sky,

Were clothed and fed and had a plenty

Of this world's goodly store,

And each little one was happy;

We would ask for nothing more.

But that time will never be.

We' will always have the poor

With us, so the bible says,

Even at our-door.

If we cannot help but little,

"Every drop the bucket fills,"

And in making one heart happy,

We have done our Master's will.

So let's help them all we can,

To make each Christmas bright;

For you know the greatest gift

Was the widow's mite.
